Privacy Policy

We collect as little as possible about you. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

In short

  • We collect only what we need to run AISHub: your contact details, your station's details and how you use the API.
  • Your station's location and statistics are shown on the AISHub map. Your name and email address are never made public.
  • We never sell your personal details. You can see, correct or delete them at any time.

1. Who we are

AISHub is run by Astra Paging Ltd ("we", "us"), a company registered in Bulgaria under number 119063656. We are responsible for your personal details (the "data controller").

2. What we collect

We collect only:

  • your name and email address, so we can contact you;
  • your station's location, equipment and statistics, so we can show it on the map and check data quality;
  • technical data such as IP addresses and API requests, to keep AISHub secure and working;
  • emails you send us, so we can answer.

3. What is public

Your station's location and statistics are shown on the AISHub map, so everyone can see where the coverage comes from. Your name and email address are never made public.

4. How we use it and who we share it with

  • We use your details only to run AISHub: your membership, the map, the API, quality checks, security, and messages about your station or about changes to our terms.
  • We never sell your personal details.
  • When we share or license combined AIS data, it never includes your name or email address.
  • A few service providers, such as hosting and email, handle data for us, only on our instructions.
  • We disclose data to authorities only when the law requires it.

The legal basis for this is the membership you signed up for, our legitimate interest in keeping AISHub secure and working, and our legal obligations.

5. Vessel data

AIS messages are public radio broadcasts from vessels. They can include a vessel's name, identifiers and position. We process them to run the network. If you own a vessel and have a privacy concern about its data on AISHub, contact us and we will look at your request.

6. How long we keep it

  • Contact and station details: while you are a member, and up to 12 months after you leave.
  • Logs of website and API use: up to 90 days.
  • Emails: as long as we need them to answer you, and no longer than 2 years.
  • AIS data you shared stays in the combined data after you leave, as our Terms of Use explain, but it is no longer linked to your name or email address.

7. Your rights

You can ask us at any time to show you the personal details we hold about you, correct them, delete them or send you a copy. You can also object to how we use them. Use the Contact form and we will answer within one month.

If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country or to the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection.

8. Cookies, changes and contact

Cookies. We use only the cookies the website needs to work.

Changes. If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance, by email or on this website.
